When we bought the house, the kitchen and appliances were in pretty bad shape. The range had a crack in the glass, the dishwasher had a tremendous leak (I'll get back to that), and the refrigerator was outdated. We purchased new appliances and our goal was to install new ceramic tile floors before delivery day. Pulling up the first layer of flooring revealed the dishwasher leak, the wood backerboard under the linoleum was soaked all the way across the kitchen. Luckily however, former residents were lazy and there were 5 other layers of flooring to protect what we thought was subflooring. As it turns out all of those 7 layers of flooring were on top of 3" heart pine hard wood flooring (whoo hoo...major score!). After scraping up black tar like material off of the wood, we were able to bring in a floor refinisher who did a great job making the 60 year old floor look new again. Our appliances have been delivered and our new countertops installed. These are our progression pictures.
